Joseph Henri Maurice Richard (1921-2000) was born in Montreal in 1921. His parents were both from the Gaspé region of Quebec.
The professional professional hockey player for the Montreal Canadiens was nicknamed “The Rocket”. His was considered to be one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history. During his career, he won 8 Stanley Cups and was the first player in NHL history to score 50 goals in one season. His younger brother Henri (Pocket Richard) also had a successful hockey career with the Canadiens.
